Ms. Martha Romero
Welcome to Ms. Romero's Kindergarten Class. This year we will have fun learning how to get along, work together, and learn the basic skills of being in school. In Language Arts, we will learn the letter names and sounds, phonemic awareness, and how to read. In Math, we will learn basic math skills of identifying sizes of groups, counting and writing numbers, adding, subtracting, and being able to do story problems. Social Studies and Science will be learned through themes and integrated with Language Arts and Math.
Hello, I am Martha Romero. I was born and raised in Arizona. I grew up and went to school in Apache Junction, AZ. I graduated from Arizona State University with a Bachelors of Science in Elementary Education and a Masters in Teaching from Grand Canyon University. In my free time, I love spending time with my family and friends, painting, making handmade cards, scrapbooking, and going the movies.
I love teaching Kindergarten because I love to see the growth the students show from the beginning of the year to the end. It is truly amazing how much the students learn in one school year. This is my 16th year in education. I have taught Kindergarten for 13 years, first grade for 1 year, and I was a Curriculum Coach for 2 years. While a Curriculum Coach, I traveled to schools out of the state to support administrators and teachers with classroom management and a research based reading program. When I was out of the classroom for the two years, I realized how much I missed working with children and decided to go back to the classroom to make a direct impact in my students' lives. Seeing the look on a student's face when he or she accomplishes something difficult is very rewarding!
